Earlier today, on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, the Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas issued a Blue Alert regarding the shooting of a law enforcement officer that occurred overnight in Northeast Houston. Authorities are currently searching for two suspects - 34-year-old Terran Green and 37-year-old James Green - in connection to the shooting of the 29-year-old deputy.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the shooting took place while the deputy was conducting a routine traffic stop. Terran Green is described as 5'4" tall, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and black shorts. James Green is 5'6" tall, 168 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
This morning, police reported locating a blue 2016 Ford Escape with Texas license plate SVJ6590 that the suspects may have been traveling in. However, the two suspects remain at large.
The wounded deputy was airlifted to a nearby hospital by helicopter and is said to be in critical but stable condition.
In response to the shooting, Texas Governor Greg Abbott posted on Twitter, saying Texas DPS special agents have been deployed to assist in the case. He asked all Texans to join in praying for the injured sheriff's deputy and their family. Authorities say they will not stop searching until the criminals are apprehended and brought to justice.
